This is a blog for dads that care about their health and the environment.
Health is important. Your health is more important than money, career success, or the transitory enjoyment of slamming back a six pack. Because if you don’t have your health, what do you have? Nothing. Because you’d be dead. Yikes. Things just got real dark.
But don’t worry, the Plant Powered Dad is here to help. I am going to tell you what to do in a bossy tone in order to get us off our duffs and actually do the things that we need to do to maintain our health. We’re going to do challenges, there’s going to be fun tips and tricks. The blog will be updated in a periodic manner. (Weekly? Who knows, I got two young kids to chase around, we’ll see.)
Listen, we all know what it takes to maintain our health. You have to eat your effing vegetables and move your body around. It’s really not rocket science. So why does it seem so hard sometimes to actually follow through on these seemingly simple behaviors? It seems like you should just be able to tell your brain to do the things and then go do the things, simple right?
Well, actually it’s hard because we lived in a fucked up capitalistic food environment where cheap processed calories surround us at all times and pervasive advertisements have hacked our simple meat computers in our heads. We should definitely organize and smash the system, but in the meantime we’ve got to exist in the world and if you’re reading this blog you’re probably pretty busy running after a bunch of youngsters. So remember to be kind to yourself and let’s create a community here of like-minded dads that can counteract those Cheeto ads.
One final note for today. I don’t care if you eat meat or follow any kind of “diet”. I believe we can all agree that vegetables are good for you and we should eat more.
